The hikers make a great team. When it's time to plan for their excursion to Happy Horse, sister researches the best sights they should visit while brother takes care of the packing. Every camping enthusiast knows a reliable tent is essential. The Maileg Hikers invested in a brand-new tent this summer that has a flap to shade them from the sun and keep them dry from the rain. They each have a cosy sleeping bag that they carry on their backs and a lantern for after-dark exploring. Brother makes sure to pack their favourite bonfire snacks like marshmallows, sausage, and croissants. The prep for the trip is finished and the hikers can barely contain their excitement for their summer trip!

Brother and Sister find a perfect spot in the forrest to set up camp. The site is between a luscious patch of trees and a flowery meadow where they can star gaze at night. They pitch their tent and set the stakes firmly in the ground. The sun is starting to set and the weather is beginning to cool down. The Maileg Hikers find some wood near camp to start a fire. They pull out their camping food to roast sausages and marshmallows. As they start to wind down for the night, as an unexpected vistor approaches the campsite…

Surprised but excited to see a fellow hiker in the forrest, the Maileg Hikers greet Wildlife Guide Mouse with open arms. They invite him to sit down and enjoy the warm bonfire with them. Guide shares that he's visited Happy Horse Forrest for many years and that it's his favourite camping destination. He offers to show the Hikers his secret sights and the hikers eagerly agree. They all go to sleep excited to see what tomorrow's adventure will bring. 

The newfound trio wake up bright and early to begin their hike. Guide first leads them through the flourishing Bambino Trail. There are so many unique plants and flowers that reside on the trail, so they make sure to walk slow so they don't miss a thing! Brother notices a pink patch of Venus flytraps, and a beautiful butterfly lands right on sister's nose. Guide brought his trusty magnifying glass so they could get an up-close look at the small insects they pass. Sister makes sure to snap some photos to add to their summer scrapbook. The day was already perfect, and they couldn't imagine it getting any better!

The trail leads them to a majestic stream that's lined with colourful rocks. The hikers notice the creek is full of small fish and other creatures. Brother was so mesmerized, that he almost fell in! They decide it's the perfect spot to take a break and rest their feet. They pull out their cheese sandwiches and listen to the relaxing sounds of the water. Once they finish up, Guide helps the Hikers cross the stream. He's crossed the stream countless times, so he knows the best path across the rocks. The trio makes it across successfully. The adventure continues as they cover more forest ground and have an unforgettable trip. Hiker Guide becomes a forever friend!

Last summer's trip was full of sunshine, sea salt and sandy paws. The Maileg Hikers set up camp right by the ocean. They loved waking up to the sound of the waves and catching a glimpse of the gorgeous sunrise every morning. They brought their rubber boats to bring in the ocean. One day, they paddled out so far that they saw a dolphin family! The afternoons were warm, so they spent many hours playing in the ocean. They made up silly games like “catch the wave" and admired the surfer mice doing cool tricks in the distance. 

This was a hot one! The Maileg Hikers traveled to the equator to experience life in the desert. The days were scorchers, so they made sure to bring their Thermos and Cups everywhere. The wildlife and plants in the desert were different than anything they had ever come across. They even learned that cacti store water in their stems. On their hike up the sand dunes, they ran into a sandstorm and sister almost got run over by a tumble weed! They had a big laugh after the storm calmed, and still joke about it often.

A big highlight of their desert trip was rafting in the Marigold Canyon. The narrow river had some sneaky rapids, but it was mostly a smooth and enjoyable ride. When the current was calm the Maileg Hikers would rest their paddles and take in the magnificent view. The tall canyons surrounded both sides of the river and were layered with warm colors and details. It was a sight they'd always remember. At the end of the excursion, brother and sister treated themselves to a cool dip in the river.

This trip achieved new heights! The hikers took on a challenge to hike the tallest mountains in the Maileg World. This trip was a month-long venture as there was so much ground (and sky) to cover. The bottom of the mountains were warm and humid, but as they got closer to the top, the climate began to feel arctic. They got the best of both worlds: summer and winter all in a span of a few hours! The Maileg Hikers took up rock climbing and learned how to catch fish. At nighttime, they set up camp in a small caves were they could stay warm.
